European Programme in Advance Orthodontic Treatment

European Programme in Advanced Orthodontic Treatment

Faculty: Prof. Dr. T. Stamm,
Prof. Dr. G Kinzinger,
Pd. Dr. Ch. Keil,
Univ. Prof. Dr. mult. U. Joos
Duration: August 1, 2026 – December 31, 2028
Content:

Orthodontic treatment has become significantly more important in recent years, particularly in Asia, for correcting jaw deformities. In addition to aesthetic aspects, the functional normalisation of the masticatory system is becoming increasingly important to avoid subsequent incorrect loading of teeth and particularly in the temporomandibular joint area.

For these reasons, the course comprehensively covers the normal facial growth, development of deformities, the importance of TMJ and their early treatment options with pediatric functional orthodontics. You will learn all aspects of Orthodontic treatment from diagnostics, planning, orthodontic treatment with functional European appliances and their impact on aesthetics.

The essential know-how is conveyed through didactically prepared teaching content in self-study, live lectures by internationally renowned professors and practical exercises.

Preconditons: Dental Licence without admission requirements for university studies

Precourse: The European Programme in Orthodontic Principles & Clinical Skills

It is possible to complete the Curriculum without an University entrance qualification.
Course director: Univ. Prof. Dr. mult. U. Joos, FRCS, FDSRCS
Programme Structure:

Hybrid Learning approach:
This programme uniquely combines online learning with hands-on practice, specifically designed to develop in-depth understanding and practical skills.

Language:
All components are in English to serve an international audience.

Teaching Methods:

Online Lectures and E-Learning:
Engaging virtual tutorials provide a basic understanding of orthodontic principles and techniques including TMJ.

Hands-on Workshops:
These workshops provide participants with laboratory manufacture of different functional orthodontic appliances

Case Discussions:
Regular discussion of actual cases to develop and refine the skills of clinical judgement and decision making.

Prerequisite: Orthodontic principles and Clinical Skills Training Program
Beginn: 01.08.2026
End: 30.02.2027
Certificate: Issued by International Medical College - Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung
Functional (Pediatric) Orthodontic treatment in Children and Adolescents:

Module A focuses on providing an overview of orthodontic treatment involving appliances that are not fixed permanently to the teeth, but which can be inserted and removed by the patient themselves. Through electronic learning units, students will acquire knowledge of the various indications and functions of differently designed removable treatment appliances, how they are manufactured, and the properties of the materials used. The course also covers functional orthodontics, which can achieve growth-promoting and growth-inhibiting therapeutic goals. Another focus is on the usability of splints for various therapies. Various case studies support the teaching of extensive basic knowledge.

Prerequisite: Orthodontic principles and Clinical Skills Training Program + module A
Beginn: 01.03.2027
End: 30.09.2027
Certificate: Issued by International Medical College - Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung
Treatment with fixed appliances:

Compared to traditional therapy with removable treatment appliances, the increased use of modern fixed appliances, known as multibracket appliances, can compensate for significant disadvantages in orthodontics. Students gain a comprehensive overview of appliances that are permanently cemented to the teeth, e.g. palatal expansion appliances, as well as common multi-bracket systems that are attached using various adhesive techniques. The learning units in this module focus on developing decision-making skills regarding the use of different types of appliances, their properties and clinical application. Interactive, web-based presentations of comprehensively documented treatment cases support the use of the web-based learning units.

Prerequisite: Orthodontic principles and Clinical Skills Training Program + module A + module B
Beginn: 01.10.2027
End: 31.12.2028
Certificate: Issued by International Medical College - Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung
Case treatment under supervision:

In the clinical supervision course, 10 cases must be treated orthodontically. The treatment is regularly monitored and checked online by experienced professors and orthodontists. Appropriate treatment measures are discussed and also demonstrated online.

To be announced
Payment Option: The tuition fee can be paid in instalments. An invoice will be issued to the participant for each instalment due.
