Study Structure 


The Academic Degree

The in-service master course leads to the academic degree of "Master Of Oral Medicine" in Implantology.

Begin and Duration

The course starts on 1st July and ends on 1st October of the following year.

The standard period of study is 15 month. The study program is completed by passing a final examination within this period of time.

Schedule

The exact schedule is unfortunately available at beginning of the course. You can refer to the schedules from the previous academic years (left menu bar).

Scope

The study program has a total time commitment of approximately 1800 hours.
The total time is divided as follows: 570 hours of webbased basic courses, 540 hours of web-based advanced training, 240 hours of practical training, 450 hours of work towards the Master's thesis - including control tests for each - and 60 hours of work in preparation for examinations.

Online Lessons and Online Examinations

The lessons and examinations are not live-teaching.

The lessons are successively free at the seminar room. Then, during the duration of the course, you always have access to it.

Both Online Examinations (Basic Course and Advanced Course Implantology) take place at a fixed date for 90 minutes.

Module 1

Basic course
Web-based basic course - covering the basics of general and oral medicine

Module 2

Basic course
Web-based basic course - covering the basics of oral surgery

Advanced course implantology

Module 4

Advanced course implantology
Web-based advanced course - special topics in implantology

[Offer/length of Module 3+4: The modules comprise 30 weekly hours per semester and have a time span of ca. 18 weeks. In total, the module comprises 540 hours. The modules are offered as extramural studies and compatible with full-time professional activity. They are offered once a year.]

Module 5

Surgical practical courses
  1. Surgical techniques in oral medicine and implantology
    [Offer/length: The module comprises 20 weekly hours per semester and has a time span of 3 days. The module is offered once a year within the study program.]
  2. Anatomic surgical practical course
    [Offer/length: The module comprises 20 weekly hours per semester and has a time span of 3 days. The module is offered once a year within the study program.]

Module 6

Seminar - science and practice
  1. Introduction to different implant systems
  2. Application of prosthodontics
  3. Scientific work in praxis, management of a doctor's office
[Offer/length: The module comprises 90 weekly hours per semester and has a time span of 9 days. The module is offered once a year within the study program]

Module 7

Clinical education
  1. Clinical training I: Obbservation of implantation
  2. Clinical training II: Dentoalveolar surgery
  3. Clinical training III: Implant surgery
[Offer/length: The module comprises 30 weekly hours per semester and has a time span of 3 weeks. The module is offered once a year within the study program]

Module 8

Master thesis
[Offer/length: The module has a time span of 3 months. The module is offered once a year within the study program. ]

Completion

After passing the final examination by the board of the universities network the degree Master Of Oral Medicine in Implantology will be awarded.

Bologna Criteria system: ECTS points

The study program was successfully accredited on 4 June, 2004 in accordance with the Bologna Criteria system by the Accreditation Council of the Kultusministerkonferenz [Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the countries in the Federal Republic of Germany]. It counts for a total of 60 ECTS points.
